California Dates aren’t just for the Holidays

California’s fresh date season begins in September when the dates are harvested in the Coachella Valley, southern California’s desert region where 95% of dates are grown in the United States. Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, these fresh dates remain available to consumers year round because of cold storage facilities.
For the rapidly expanding health conscious market, consumers will find California dates are nutritionally packed with a natural balance of minerals, good source of fiber, antioxidant rich and no added sugars. Recently California Dates heart healthy fruit status received the Heart Check Mark certification from the American Heart Association for the Deglet Noor and Medjool varieties.
Fresh California dates are considered by many consumers to be a dried fruit. Not so, dates are a dry fruit, not dried. California dates are the naturally lowest moisture whole fruit grown in the arid desert. While most fruits range from 75 to 95 percent moisture, fresh whole dates are less than 30 percent moisture; making them Nature’s only naturally dry fruit.
Fresh Produce
Boasting year-round freshness, California dates can be a worthy component of any produce department. The key to increasing sales dollars is by increasing space.  A bigger category space is associated with higher overall performance.  It’s all in the presentation. Don’t make your customers go through the frustration of searching for fresh California Dates.
California Dates and date products make a perfect ingredient for bakery, cereal, dairy, and confectionary and food industry products. Dates have a natural sweet flavor, no added sugar is required. Their wholesome caramel-like savory taste invites the most tantalizing culinary creativity.

As an ingredient to any recipe, dates provide the perfect natural alternative to added sugars.
