NOW AVAILABLE FOR SCHOOLS
“Datelicious”
Brochure Features Local Children’s Artwork
INDIO, CA.
-- (December 5, 2008)
A brand new education brochure all about
California Dates – entitled “Datelicious” –
has just been published by the California
Date Administrative Committee (CDAC) and is
now available, free, for classroom use in
augmenting agriculture education, according
the Lorrie Cooper,
CDAC manager.
“The new education brochure features the
artwork of local children who won first
place in second to fifth grades during our
Dates Are Great art contest conducted
earlier this year,” said Cooper. “The twelve panel accordion fold brochure features
facts and information about California’s
date industry, how dates are grown,
harvested, packed and shipped, as well as
the varieties of dates grown in California.”
Packets containing samples of the brochure
and request forms have just been mailed to
the local three school district
superintendents as well as public and
private school principals across the
Coachella Valley.
The
full color brochures are available on
request by calling (760) 347-4510 or sending
an email to
dates2000@earthlink.com. Local
teachers are also invited to request a small
quantity of dates for sampling while their
classroom learns about California dates or
teachers may request assistance with
arranging a field trip to a working date
garden during the school year.
The
new “Datelicious” brochure was designed by
award winning graphic designer Thomas
Granade and text developed by food writer
and marketing consultant Pamela Bieri.
